Kim Peretti is co-chair of Alston & Bird’s Cybersecurity Preparedness & Response Team and National Security & Digital Crimes Team. Kim is the former director of PwC’s cyber forensic services group and a former senior litigator for the Department of Justice’s Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section. At the DOJ, Kim led benchmark cybercrime cases, including the prosecution of TJX hacker Albert Gonzalez. Kim’s background as an information-security professional for over 20 years enhances her practice in managing technical cyber investigations, assisting clients in responding to data-security-related regulator inquiries, and advising boards and senior executives in cybersecurity and cyber risk matters. She also services clients in matters of privacy, national security process and requests, and payment systems compliance and risk mitigation. Kim is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional.
Kim was included on Washingtonian’s Top Lawyers lists for cybersecurity in 2017 and 2018, and named a top data breach attorney in Cybersecurity Docket’s “Incident Response 30” since its inception in 2016. Kim is recognized as an information security “industry pioneer” by SC Magazine and ranked in Privacy & Data Security by Chambers USA and Chambers Global. Kim was presented a Burton Award for Legal Achievement for co-authoring “Cybersecurity: What Directors Need to Know in an Era of Increased Scrutiny” and featured on CNN Declassified for the benchmark prosecution of the global carding organization Shadowcrew.
