Michael Skrief specializes in consulting with and providing advisory services to boards of directors, audit committees, company counsel, and senior management, including chief financial officers, chief legal officers, chief compliance officers and chief internal auditors. He has extensive experience in responding to regulatory inquiries, performing Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (“FCPA”) and financial fraud and embezzlement investigations, developing disgorgement calculations, and assessing and designing global compliance program frameworks and evaluating implementation effectiveness. His experiences cover a broad range of industries, including Agriculture, Automotive, Consumer Services, Energy, Financial Services, Industrial Products, Insurance, Medical Device, Mineral Exploration, Pharmaceuticals, Real Estate, Retail and Technology.

He brings extensive regulatory experience to his clients and has been involved in some of the largest and most notable investigations of the past 20 years, most recently being a finalist for the 2022 GIR (Global Investigations Review) investigator of the year. His relevant experience includes investigating allegations of fraud, bribery and corruption across multiple industries in over 35 countries. Further, he has quantified the value of ill-gotten gains wrongfully obtained as a result of the alleged conduct in over a dozen matters.

He is a frequent speaker at national anti-corruption and regulatory focused conferences, including American Conference Institutes FCPA conferences and Practicing Law Institute (PLI) programs. He has presented the results of the investigation conducted, quantification of the disgorgement calculated, and the extent of the remediation undertaken on numerous occasions to the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the U.K. Serious Fraud Office on behalf of his clients.
