Brandon Catalan is a Senior Director at Ankura, based in Boston. Brandon has 15 years of experience in the threat intelligence and computer forensics field, including a multitude of technical leaderships roles within the Defense Industrial Base directing incident response and tier III intelligence teams.
Brandon provides cybersecurity expertise and leadership to clients in threat intelligence and analytics, forensic analysis, malware reverse engineering as well as strategic and tactical cyber operations. Brandon manages advanced and persistent computer and network comprise matters through investigation and develops strategies to respond to and mitigate current and emerging nation-state and criminal threats. He also specializes in developing proactive cyber operations to prevent future campaigns against clients.
Brandon is sought after by clients for his knowledge and research pertaining to the tactics, techniques, and procedures employed by advanced adversaries and his ability to handle sophisticated and advanced cyber investigations.
Prior to joining Ankura, Brandon was a security principal with Accenture Security where he was responsible for leading a global threat intelligence function providing focused support for Accenture’s cyber defense portfolio as well as delivering revenue generating threat intelligence propositions that aligned with the firm’s client base and the strategy of the overall business practice.
Before his role at Accenture, Brandon was a cyber threat principal at Raytheon where he acted as the primary subject matter expert for all incidents involving foreign state-sponsored espionage. He successfully fused tier III threat intelligence support into all incident response engagements and provided additional value-added services to tier I operations up to and including indicator enrichment, malware analysis, threat actor attribution, and wider contextual intelligence.
Brandon provided counterintelligence support to focused cyber operations and research pertaining to advanced persistent threat (APT) tactics, techniques, and procedures. His work has been published in the Wall Street Journal and various other media outlets, company blogs, and by leading defense industry associations. He has been credited for his work on intelligence community assessments relating to cyberthreats and has presented at a variety of Department of Defense and commercial conferences and symposiums.
