Nick Lewis is a Regulatory & Investigations Counsel at Google and works as part of a team that oversees complex internal investigations and responds to regulatory inquiries involving Google's products and businesses around the world.
He previously served as a partner at McGuireWoods LLP in its Government Investigations and White Collar Litigation Department, where he defended individual and corporate clients in white collar criminal and regulatory matters. He represented financial institutions, corporations, political figures, and individuals under investigation by government entities, including the Department of Justice, the Federal Election Commission, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Department of Treasury. Through these matters, he developed particular expertise in political law, white collar fraud actions, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

He also helped lead comprehensive internal investigations, including investigations related to complex structured finance products as well as investigations conducted overseas in countries with strict data privacy laws. In addition, he represented clients in class action and securities litigation and in all phases of complex commercial litigation. He served as lead counsel and argued in a criminal appeal before the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. He was twice awarded the McGuireWoods Excellence Award for his work at the firm.

Nick also previously served as a law clerk to the Chief Judge of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals where he analyzed novel legal issues in all areas of the law and helped draft appellate opinions.
